Founded in 1947, Ellesmere Operatic Society continues to bring high-standard productions to Sheffield.
The Society's 2006 production of 'Jekyll & Hyde' was dubbed the greatest amateur production Sheffield has seen. With Gary St. John's performance in the title roles described as "Oscar winning".
The latest 2008 production of 'Billy' has just completed its run, having returned to Sheffield after a 15 year absence and filled the Montgomery Theatre with roars of laughter. Watch this space for details of the latest Show Stoppers and next year's show.

Ellesmere Operatic Society is a member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association. Founded in 1899, it is the main representative body for amateur theatre in the U.K.. It has a membership of some 2,400 amateur/community theatre groups and 3000 individual enthusiasts, staging musicals, operas, plays, concerts and pantomimes in a wide variety of performing venues. It aims to help amateurs achieve the highests standards of best practice and performance.
